National Mathematics Day

22 December is celebrated as the Birth Anniversary of the ‘Indian Mathematical Genius’, “Mr. Srinivasa Ramanujan” (22 December 1887-26 April 1920). It was in recognition of his contribution to Mathematics, the Government of India decided to celebrate his birthday as the National Mathematic Day every year since 2012. During his short life, Ramanujan independently compiled nearly 3900 results.  Dr Manmohan Singh also announced that the year 2012 CE would be celebrated as the National Mathematics Year.
