Birth Anniversary of SARDAR PATEL

Full name of SARDAR PATEL was VALLABHBHAI ZAVERBHAI PATEL. His mother’s name was LADBA PATEL. He was born on 31 October, 1875 at Karamsad in Gujarat.
He went to England to study law and became a Barrister. Returning to the INDIA he started a practice as a lawyer in Ahmadabad. His meeting with Gandhiji in 1917 proved to be a turning point in his life.
He displayed his capacity as a capable organizer. As a mayor of Ahmadabad during the period 1924-28 he displayed his qualities as an able admistrator. His leadership saw the successful no tax movement of Bardoli Peasants against Britishers (1928). Then he was called “SARDAR”.  For his great qualities of firmness, determination, iron-will and courage. He was called “IRON MAN OF INDIA”.
He became free India’s first Home Minister more than 600 princely states were merged by him into the Indian Union. By his swift and timely action he succeeded in saving the princely states of Junagadh and Hyderabad and in preventing Pakistan for forcing Kashmir.
His death on 1950 was a great loss of India. SARDAR will always be remembered as the maker and unifier of our NATION.
